Transformable Leather Jacket/Bag

Digitizing pattern pieces. Patterns were exported into OptiTex and trued. The final patterns were exported to Adobe Illustrator CS6 where the textile pattern was placed on the pattern pieces.
The laser cutting and etching pattern design was created in Adobe Illustrator CS6. The black lines represent etching lines and the red lines represent cutting lines.
Deer leather was sourced from a local tannery. The hides were cosidered damaged goods because there were minor holes in the hide. I cut a small piece of the hide to test the etching and cutting parameters to determine optimum settings.
The cut out shapes in the textile pattern were engineered over the damages or holes in the hide.
